I had been dying to try this dish, after seeing the post on Cooked from the Heart. I followed the recipe exactly for most part. I did not have squash, and over baked it as you can see, but it still tasted glorious and juicy and ... Here are the results. It took me about 2.5 hours on a lazy Saturday evening to make this, but fully worth the time spent. This post gives detailed step by step directions with photos.
What's Cooking?
Three years ago, we started two food blogs! Chitra Amma's Kitchen was a place to document our traditional South Indian Vegetarian recipes, written by my mom. Inspired Kitchen was more a dairy of my cooking experiments and accidents! I stopped blogging here, as my hands were more than full with work, family and so on!
Over the last few years, our family has become truely multicultural, and every new member in the family brings in new ideas, and fresh food cultures with them! I still am a staunch vegetarian, and in fact, on my way to becoming grain-free! However, the irony in my life ...I have married into a family of equally staunch non-vegetarians!
And so, in this blog we will feature all cusines - from different states, countries, veg, non-veg, anything and everything! We'll have posts from all the Inspired Cooks in our extended family!

I'm glad you tried the ratatouille. It's a new favorite at our house. I was being lazy one time and instead of layering I just tossed everything together. It wasn't as pretty but still quite delicious. Your version came out quite nice!
You should join Recipes to Rival. It's been fun for me, trying out new recipes.
Take care.
Hi Dibs
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your lovely words..I just came back home and thus the delay in acknowledgment..
I loved this dish and am sure it tastes wonderful...

Hi dibs
thanks for stopping by my blog... the dish has a very good visual appeal and must have been very tasty too !
What a daring attempt. I only came to know of the dish from the movie, and found it tedious in the movie itself. Really nice picture, and I am sure it tasted great, as you say:-)
